"Pool Table Carriage"

"I am John Bratton, inventor of the Pool Table Carriage. It was developed when my wife Deborah, bought me a full size pool table that weighed around 400 pounds. It was well made with a 1" slate and ball return but not a coin operated type. Pace made the pool table in Glendale, California.

The idea for the carriage came when my wife said that she wanted her car parked in the garage when we were finished playing pool. I used piano dollies and I would lift one end while I waited for my wife to position the dolly without damage to the pool table. She wasn't sure how to place the dolly and I had to be patient. I thought to myself that if I continued moving the table this way, I was going to injure myself or end up doing a lot of damage to the pool table.

I thought about how I could move the table and level it without having to lift it to move it. Thus, I came up with the idea of the pool table carriage which moves the table easily and levels with little trouble. I designed it and made a prototype that impressed many friends and family when playing pool with the ability to move the table aside or into a better position for playing pool. They all said that they would love to have one of these units and said that their wives would love it too because it did not lock up the room or garage and the wives could move the table too with very little effort. I have had many good years playing pool on the pool table on the carriage and not once did it torque or move the table to where it had to be repaired. It would be very useful in pool halls and in the local bars where it could be moved in different areas or moved aside to do felt work on it without having to hire someone to move it by taking it apart then setting it up again.

I have a video that demonstrates how this unit is used (available upon request). I have had a problem with people understanding how this unit works when they see a picture of it, but the movie demonstrates just how it is used, so there is no doubt about how to use it. I am very sure that you would enjoy having this unit if you like playing pool. The carriage lifts the table 2 inches but, you can also draw up the level pads to make up the difference in heights. As for me, it never even made the table feel any different when I played on it with the original heights that it was set up on the floor before putting it on the pool table carriage. Everyone who has played on my pool table with the carriage has been excited about the unit I hope you find it exciting too."

The invention, called the Pool Table Carriage, will support and transport a pool table to various locations. For anyone who has ever tried to move a pool table, they have encountered a heavy and cumbersome task. Although pool tables are large, they are also fragile as far as handling goes, especially when a table is handled or moved. One has to be careful not to damage the slate design. Movers also have to take care not to harm themselves when trying to move a table. This design features a sturdy steel frame incorporating wheels for an easy-to-use method of conveniently positioning a pool table.
