"I was born in a small village called Evanton, located in the rugged highlands of Scotland, where I spent a very unhappy childhood along with my brother. As orphans, we were shipped from one foster home to the next, with very little loving care being shown; then it was time to "run away". We ran barefoot through sleet and snow for almost ten miles on the road to Inverness, where a police car finally picked us up and we eventually ended up in the "poor house". Three days later I was rushed of to Stobhill Hospital in Glasgow suffering from diphtheria. In those days there was no penicillin, but I fooled them and did not die as was expected. From then on, life improved and we both spent some time in the service of the Royal Air Force. I ended up on the burning sands of the Sahara Desert in North Africa and my brother spent his final days in a P.O.W. camp in Java, in the Dutch Indies. I emigrated to Canada for two years, but the best move I ever made was coming to the good old U.S.A. where life has given me many chances to prove what can be done with a little imagination and aforethought. During my life, I have been a salesman, a recording engineer, a DJ, soccer referee, and an Inventor with three patents to my credit so far. I can hardly wait for the trout fishing season to arrive when I will once again feel the tight line straining on the ripples of a raging river.
For as long as I can remember, I've always been interested in fishing. I caught my first trout when I was six years old, but my grandmother said it was too small and fed it to the cat. I thought it was a whopper and was very disappointed. I enjoyed both fly fishing and spinning, but after many years the arm started to ache from all the elbow bending due to far reaching castes. Not wanting to give up my favorite hobby, I figured there must be some kind of alternative to this tennis elbow torture, so I started working on the "Fly Flicker" formula. After many sleepless nights and much trial and error, the right combination of wood and metal began to come clear. A snappy name was the final part of the puzzle.
Having figured out the right combination and now with just a flick of the wrist, I enjoy the old pastime with no pain or strain. Several years ago, to test my invention, on as many water surfaces as possible, I returned to Scotland to fish on many rivers, lochs, and streams to prove that the system really worked. With the Fly Flicker, I've caught and released many trout to strike and fight for many more seasons. I imagined that the Fly Flicker, landing on the stream seemed like a falling leaf to the eyes of the wily trout, and the fly was too tempting to let slip by."
