I am a bricklayer and often work in the evenings. One winter evening I was having difficulty reading my level in the dark....that's when the idea came to me. Why not make a level that can be used in the dark? This is how the Luminous Level came to me. This level would be very unique because it could be used in the dark and it is magnetic so provides a hands free environment for the user.

Present levels are basically one-dimensional and are not easily used in poorly lit areas. In addition, they always require at least one hand to hold and adjust the level. These concerns pointed out a need that led Inventor Desmond Greaves to the development of the Luminous Level.
